Objective: Assessment of the international competitiveness of the Turkish food processing industry.
Scope: To perform a comparative analysis of the food processing industry in Turkey and in the world; to study the growth strategies of large food processing multinational firms; to assess the competitiveness of the Turkish large food processing firms on the domestic and international markets; and to analyze the opportunities and threats for the Turkish food industry resulting from the globalization process.
Partners: Centre International de Hautes Etudes Agronomiques Mediterraneennes - Institut Agronomique Mediterraneen de Montpellier (CIHEAM-IAMM), Marmara University, Galatasaray University and Yıldız University.
Project Team: Aylin Ataay, Murat Donduran and Selma Tozanlı.
Current Status: The project has started on March 4, 2004 and first phase has been completed. The conclusions from the first phase have been presented and announced to the Turkish food processing industry managers and media in a meeting held in Istanbul on February 4, 2005.

The second and third phases of the project were planned to continue through 2005. However, due to lack of some difficulties encountered in the making of the third part, this section is postponed to be prepared to the first half of 2008.
